Easter weekend retreat 1-5 April

thursday 7pm - monday 3pm

Retreat begins with Green Tara puja - thursday 7pm. All welcome, whether you are attending the retreat or not. It is traditional to offer something beautiful, something useful, and something valuable.

This 4-day retreat will include mindfulness practice, working with visualisation and sound, and some archetype work - Green Tara/ Divine Mother. We will also be doing some mandala drawing as a support and extension of our meditation practice.

Take this chance to deepen your practice! Suitable for beginners and experienced meditators from any tradition. Participants in Mindfulness courses are especially encouraged to be part of this retreat.

This is a non-residential retreat. As part of your preparation for retreat work, prepare things where you will be staying so you can keep talking to a minimum when you go home to sleep. Plan to take a complete rest from phone messages, emails, jobs around the house, etc. You can trust that caring for this ahead of time will help you go significantly deeper in retreat.

There is room for some people to stay on site. Please let Mana know if you would like this, especially if you are coming from out of town or have a busy household.

If you are interested but unable to attend the whole retreat, it is possible to come for the beginning days only. Please discuss with Mana.

Where: 45a Harvey St, Mosman Park
When: 7 pm thursday to 3 pm monday.
Bring: Notebook and pen, A2 or A3 drawing paper and drawing materials, a favourite meditation cushion if you have one, some food to share - food will be coordinated before the retreat. Wear comfortable clothing.
Cost: suggested donation $250 / $100 unwaged - nobody is turned away for lack of funds - see dana

Upcoming retreats and workshops - info

Meditation retreat time supports our path work beyond imagination. In meditation retreat a combination of mindfulness meditation and our explorations of a path with heart is the major focus in the day. For those who have yet to do retreat work, this has not much connection with spa or other 'me-time' retreat - meditation retreat will generally take us far deeper, wider and higher. Even if the work is unfamiliar, we usually leave with much enhanced well-being as well as awareness. Retreat is the most direct way to touch the light in our beings, and through retreat along with our other dharma practice we gradually learn to connect with that light in more and more areas of our lives.

It is traditional to ask for teaching. If you would like to do a retreat in Perth or anywhere, ask. The chances are that others will be interested too, and it can happen.

Feedback on previous retreats

'Thanks for a great retreat day on Sunday. Peace' Mala

'The retreat was a coming together of like-minded people - moving down the Dharma path with a teacher who moves with us, takes us along and extends us when needed.
A great way to explore the teachings of the Buddha, learn to integrate them into our particular lives, and feel the energy of group meditation.
Sometimes joyful, sometimes confronting, but always a feeling of travelling the Path to coming home to that which is already there waiting to be discovered.' Sherrell

'I found the retreat to be a lovely and supportive space to deepen my meditation practice. I particularly enjoyed the sound meditations and the way sitting meditations were broken up with walking meditation and Tai Chi practice. My mind seemed to settle down after the first half day and an amazing stillness settled in, and I found myself inclining more and more towards that stillness and the peace and the joy that accompanies it.
It was wonderful to have friends on the path – the energy generated by people who willingly and with great joy want to look at their own mind states and understand them is a special experience.' Beth

'I realize now that participating in the Weekend retreat was a major step for me. Practicing meditation during an entire weekend helped me realize that this can be a natural, daily activity. As a result of the weekend, I have set up some space in my house, which is inviting for meditation. And I come to meditation more easily now.
I particularly liked experiencing various forms of meditation: sitting, walking, watching the light on leaves, watching the light through a crystal. This is encouraging me to bring more awareness and a calm mind into my daily activities, by stopping to watch the light, or walk mindfully.
As we were sharing with each other, I could appreciate your delicate guidance, which is encouraging me to explore some questions arising from deep within. I also value the sense of interconnectedness gained from sharing these moments with the friends on the path.
For all this, Thank you Mana.' Nathalie

'A truly huge thankyou for the weekend. Love' Deb

Mandalas

Many of our retreats and courses use artwork, discussion etc to extend and integrate our mindfulness explorations. Mandala practice is a wonderful method for integrating and balancing different aspects of our lives, for developing our intuition, and understanding the deeper currents in our lives. Most people find mandala work both enjoyable and enriching - even those who swear they cannot draw usually get a pleasant surprise!
