My name is Bindu, or some know me by my given name of Tessa which I still use – and both names I love.
My spiritual journey began at the age of 17yrs when my mother and I learnt TM meditation in the hope that it might help my TEE grade – which I think it did! Little did I know then about the power of mantra and the path that would unfold for me.
I was blessed with Satyananda yoga classes in my early 20s and this evolved into an ongoing relationship with the Satyananda community in NSW and now in Perth, some 20 years later.
The smallness and openness of the Perth community allowed me to fully embrace the magic of kirtans. Despite having always had music of some form in my life, I became suddenly aware of the transformation it created within me and within those I played and sang with. Not understanding the Sanskrit language enabled me to switch off my intellect and become absorbed in the vibration of pure sound. Singing in this way has taken me to a place that no amount of meditation alone was able to. The healing vibration of the music opens my heart and expands my mind and creativity – I am taken to a special place as my mind and body seem to become more closely aligned to their true nature.
Sharing this experience with others is a blessing. The energy is magnified as both the singer and the ‘audience’ begin a journey together that is always transforming and healing. Being a part of Spirit is also a blessing as I am given the opportunity to continue to explore this wonderful journey of healing and expansion through music with like-minded people.
