Hatha Yoga Intensives with Tanja
In a 2 hours session we are able to take more time to explore and enjoy the different aspects of a well rounded practice.
We start the class by becoming present within body and breath, a dynamic warm- up- sequence is following. In continuation, asanas (yoga postures) are held for a longer duration that allows us to observe, sense and engage more deeply. The practice closes with a guided relaxation, meditation or breathing practice.
Each class will focus on a different theme of yoga practice, such as a movement principle, an area of the body, a group of asana, an affirmation or quality that guides us along.
By observing our movements, the quality of our breath and the state of our mind, we become present in the very moment. Awareness and concentration are increased, as well as the attentiveness on optimising the asanas according to the body’s anatomy and individual possibilities.
Through a regular yoga practice, we can experience numerous benefits, such as increased vitality, flexibility and suppleness, strenght and stamina, calming of the mind and a sense of serenity and balance.
The three weekly sessions build on each other, but it is also possible to ‘drop in’ one session.
The classes are open to all levels of practitioner, although the practice might suit best for beginner- intermediate- yogis.

About the teacher
Tanja is from Switzerland. Since 2014, she’s based on Koh Phayam Island in southern Thailand.
Before she got her yoga teaching certifcate she studied contemporary dance and performing arts. She has been part of various performance projects and has taught dance and yoga to adults and children. Besides being interested in art, movement and body work, she has attended meditation courses and retreats (mainly Vipassana) so these practices became part of her path.
Tanja chose to participate in an extensive Iyengar Yoga teacher training in Switzerland, where she attended the Introductory II teaching degree in 2012. The detailed and accurate approach of the method fascinated her and allowed her to feel more centered and grounded.
In her work she is always interested in exploring how self awareness can be cultivated through the practice, how one can let go of unhelpful habits to move towards greater freedom, and how the physical, subtle and energetic aspects of our being are brought into harmony.
For Tanja it is important to offer a yoga class that is well structured and clearly sequenced. Her aim is to guide practitioners through a class in which various aspects of the practice (such as dynamic motion and stillness, strenghtening and mobilization, facing challenges and being at ease) are balanced.
